Mara-Sue wants a horse bad and is determined to buy one. She's as stubborn as her single mom who raised her without help from anyone. The problem is Mara-Sue not only hasn't got much money, she also doesn't seem to have any way to earn any. But she refuses to give up and begins to clean out an old city lot in Grayson, Kentucky where she and her mom recently moved. She has a vision of turning the ramshackle shed in the litter-infested lot into a stable for her horse.
This is a story about horses, about relationships, about the meaning of family. It is a story about many champions, including Mara-Sue.
